Policy Downloads

In addition to the policies summarised on this page - you can download copies from the list below or get copies from the main office in the school

Attendance and Punctuality

It is important for their progress that students attend school regularly and punctually. In the case of irregular attendance or unpunctuality, a written explanation , signed by parents , must be sent to the School Principal.

The school is obliged under law to report any student who is absent for twenty days or more, to the National Education and Welfare Board. Parents have a vital role to play in ensuring that students attend school regularly.

Board of Management

The school has a Board of Management. Membership consists of parents, teachers, community representatives and representatives of County Carlow Vocational Education Committee. The board is a sub committee of Carlow Vocational Education Committee.

Book Rental Scheme

The school operates a very successful book rental scheme in order to reduce the cost of books for parents. Books supplied in this manner remain the property of the school and must be returned when the students complete the courses in which the books are used.

Conduct and Discipline

Our policy is to approach discipline as positively as possible. Our school's code of conduct combines firmness with fairness and we aim to develop and encourage reliance on self – discipline and responsibility as students move through the school. A copy of the school code of conduct and rules is given to parents and is fully explained to students.

Healthy Eating

The school encourages healthy eating with a Breakfast Club in the morning and healthy lunches available to all students during the day. A well – stocked tuck shop is open during breaks offering a variety of snacks.
